Since 1986, the third Monday of January has been reserved to commemorate the birthday, life and legacy of one of our nation’s greatest leaders, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Although MLK Day is a national holiday, the ways in which people choose to celebrate are endless. Many schools, organizations, and YMCAs across the nation will have the day off and/or host an MLK Day program, while others may participate in a community service project or attend city-wide marches and rallies.

In the Greater Seattle area, we are closed to honor Dr. King’s legacy and are inviting staff, members, and volunteers to participate in the annual MLK Rally and March at Garfield Community Center starting at 10am on Monday, January 15.
