Expedition Mountain to Sound

This summer explore our backyard as we paddle, climb, hike and ride through the cascade mountains to the puget sound. On these one and two week day trips, We will learn new outdoor skill, refine our leadership  and  server our community!  You will be joining a of motivated teen ready to take on the challenge. We won’t be doing this alone, we will working alongside The Mountain to Sound Greenway Trust and, Skill Instructors and YMCA Staff who dedicate their lives to advocating for our public places, teaching outdoor skill  and supporting people to love human powered recreation.

Dates Theme Description
July 10-14 Rock Climbing (1 week) – Reach new heights on this outdoor climbing expedition to some of the best local climbing areas! Climb in the Issaquah Alps and check out crags in the Cascade Mountains! Hone outdoor climbing skills with a group of like-minded adventurers. This trip will include community service and plenty of fun! Beginners welcome, we’ll teach you everything you need to know.
July 17-28 Mountain Biking (2 weeks) – Ready for a challenge? Week 1 we’ll learn new bike skills, explore local parks & work with local nonprofits to give back to the trails we use. Week 2 we’ll travel regionally on trails from the peaks of the Cascades all the way down to the shores of the Puget Sound. Along the way we will incorporate community service & learn about our local ecology. Participants must possess basic bike riding skills, we’ll teach you the rest!
July 31-Aug 10 Sea Kayaking (2 weeks with 1 night overnight) – Join us as we learn to sea kayak! Trace the salmon’s route from Issaquah Creek to the Puget Sound. Learn kayaking techniques and rescues, paddle across Lake Sammamish, complete a service project in the local watershed and spend the night on an island in the Puget Sound. No experience necessary.
