OUR FIRST FAMILY HIKE

“We caught the perfect rain break last Sunday morning at our family hike at Lake Sammamish State Park hosted by the Issaquah Alps Trail Club and the Sammamish Community YMCA. On the hike, led by local conservation leader Dave Kappler from the Issaquah Alps Trail Club, we traveled through the park learning about the history of conservation and the area as well as information about local plants and animals.

At the end our hike we saw the restoration work that our teens have been working on as part of the Sammamish Teen Volunteer Corps and YMCA Earth Service Corps this winter and spring.

The Issaquah Alps Trail Club puts on a variety of free hikes that Y families are invited to join. We had a great time together and look forward to holding more family hikes this summer in partnership with the Issaquah Alps Trail Club! Special thanks to Dana Berenson for volunteering her photography skills to capture this great outing.”
