Please join us for the Celebration of Mind, Body and Spirit program – a specialized set of workshops to soothe, cleanse and inspire Y members wishing to pursue a healthier lifestyle, from head to toe!

Mind-Body Chair Yoga Class – Noon, Room: Group Fitness 1
This mindful chair yoga class is all about learning to hold your body while finding your balance and breath. – Taught by Grace

Planter Fasciitis: What a pain in the foot! 12:30 p.m., Room: Group Fitness 1
This presentation will discuss plantar fasciitis and simple techniques you can do at home to ease pain and strengthen the foot muscles to keep the issue at bay. – Taught by Shanyn

Learn to relax with the art of NIA – 1:30 p.m., Room: Group Fitness 1
NIA is a sensory-based movement practice that draws from martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. It empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, emotions and spirit. – Taught by Alyson

MELT For Happy Feet – 2 p.m., Room: Group Fitness 1
We’ll review a mini foot sequence using a soft MELT ball to improve balance and stability while decreasing tension, aches or pain. – Taught by Susan

Moving for Better Balance – Noon, Reflection Room
This is a fall-prevention program for older adults, consisting of therapeutic movements inspired by Tai Chi-based actions. – Taught by Teresa

The Magic of Mindful Moments – 1 p.m., Reflection Room
Several 10-second pausing routines will be taught to help participants learn to evoke calm, clarity, and confidence into their lives.– Taught by Mia & Barbara

Mat Pilates – 1:30 p.m., Reflection Room
This class is designed to increase core strength and flexibility and align the mind/body while helping participants to learn to stay in the moment and relax. – Taught by Karen

Meditation – 2:30 p.m., Reflection Room
Learn and practice centuries-old meditation techniques to relax and increase your overall sense of well-being. .– Taught by Anoop

FREE FOOD (we knew that would get your attention)!
Please join Karin Baron, culinary coordinator, and Emma Stone, our registered dietitian, in the Linda Toyson Kitchen for a cooking demo and samples during the Celebration of Mind Body & Spirit event.

12:30-1:30 p.m.: Nourishment
Cooking nourishing and delicious food is one of the most caring gestures you can make for another or for yourself. Enjoy the aroma, flavor and texture of Savory Butternut Squash Soup with Curried Apples. – Taught by Karin

2:00-3:00 p.m. – Feeding Your Brain
There are so many ways in which the food you eat impacts your brain. Join us in exploring memory function and intuitive eating, and you will leave this class with a better understanding of antioxidants, Omega-3 fatty acids, and the cues your body provides in response to food. – Taught by Emma
