Be A Y Tri Champion – Your Challenge Starts Today!

UPDATE:

Congratulations to everyone who has completed the Champions Tri Challenge!  If you have not quite hit your mileage goal, feel free to continue to work on it.  Finished logs can be e-mailed to Stephanie @snortonbredl@seattleymca.org or left at the membership desk.

Finishers Shirts will be available at our celebration on July 20 from 6-7:30pm where we will enjoy refreshments, recognize your  accomplishments and do some drawings for awesome prizes.  If you cannot attend the party, shirts will be available for pick up after.

This guest post is written by Tri Champion Challenge program leader John Cofano.

Back in 2005, after a severe basketball knee injury, Margie introduced me to triathlons. Since then, with nearly 80 finishes each, including dozens of half-and Full-marathons, eight Half Ironman and three Full Ironman races, the feeling of accomplishment never leaves us! Endurance sports have been fantastic for our health, friends and our relationship.

In eight weeks (on June 24th), we’ll be racing Ironman France in Nice, on the French Riviera. For me racing at the age of 60, it will be a dream come true to swim in the Mediterranean and bike in the Alps. And, as long-time supporters of the Y’s relentless efforts to bring fitness and community to everybody, we’re leading the “Y Champions Tri Challenge” so everybody can join us!

All you have to do is sign up, and then complete the same distances we will on June 24th – except you get nine weeks to swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles and run 26.2 miles. You CAN do it, and in the process prove to yourself and others what you’re capable of. We’re here to help and encourage everyone – so sign up already! Click here to register and join the challenge.

If you need help or support, email me (John Cofano) at johncofano@hotmail.com, or Margie Cofano at rockfitgurl@gmail.com. We believe in you – so be a Y Tri Champion and race with us! You can also contact Stephanie Norton-Bredl at snortonbredl@seattleymca.org to get signed up and start today!
